To make a good Smoked barbecue burgers with homemade ketchup, you don’t really much things. Some fire, good beef meat, that’s okay. Let’s dive into one of our favorite recipe.
Ingredients:
- 3.3 lbs of ripe tomatoes (1.5 kg)
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 2 cloves of garlic, sliced
- 3/4 cup of sugar (150 g )
- 1/2 cup of vinegar (125 ml)
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon of paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon of mustard powder
- 1 pinch of ground cloves
- 1 pinch of ground cinnamon
Instructions:
- Blanch the tomatoes, peel them and cut them into pieces.
- Slice the onion and garlic.
- In a saucepan, sauté the onion and garlic in a little olive oil until translucent.
- Add the tomatoes, sugar, vinegar, salt, pepper, paprika, mustard, cloves and cinnamon.
- Simmer over low heat for about 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
- Blend the mixture until smooth.
- Pass the ketchup through a sieve to remove any chunks.
- Pour the ketchup into sterilized jars.
- Let cool before closing the jars.

Steps:
1- Make meat ball to making the patties
Each patties should be around 8 oz. Wet your hands with cold water and make the balls between them. Then use a patty mold to make them the best shape.
2- Seasoning each patty both side
3- Preheat your stove, barbecue or grill at 450°F – 230° C, it should take around 15 minutes. To smoke your burgers a grill or barbecue will be a must.
4- Put the patties on the grill for 6 minutes each side.
5- Down the temperature of the grill / barbecue to 195°F – 90°C and let your patties taking the smoke for around 7 more minutes.
6- Use a thermometer for kitchen to check the meat temperature inside it should be: 160°F – 70°C
Now add some cheese on the patties to let it melt. In the same time, butter your buns and place them on the grill butter side face to grill.
